My name is Patrick Schenck and I live at 915 South Tracy Avenue in Bozeman.
I would like to provide feedback on the recent idea to combine residential zoning from R1,R2,
R3, into a combined RA zoning category.
This is a terrible idea, and it is not supported by even close to a majority of constituents in
Bozeman neighborhoods.
If adopted, Bozeman would not solve its lack of affordable housing, but it would permanently
overload the existing infrastructure, clog the streets with cars, make traffic and snow removal
even more challenging, and keep neighbors from knowing each other due to turnover and
absentee ownership. But it would likely make some developers and short sighted consultants
a lot of money.
I could not disagree more with this idea, and although I voted for a number of the existing
commissioners, that will be the last time if they were to support such a bad idea.
I remain hopeful that sensibility prevails, although I am surprised the idea got even this far
along.
