Dear Bozeman City Commission, I am writing to express my deep concern about the direction Bozeman is heading in terms ofgrowth, affordable housing, and runaway developers creating luxury housing. Bozeman needs affordable housing, not more luxury condos and townhouses that sit empty most of the yearwhile working families continue to be priced out of the housing market. I urge you to not pass the new Unified Development Code (UDC). This new code is a radical departure from the last 70 years of residential zoning in Bozeman. In 2020, the cityimplemented the Downtown Improvement District, allowing for five-story apartment buildings in a radius along Main Street and College Street. Since then, developers havedemolished established affordable housing to build luxury apartments. Without any ability to enforce the creation of affordable housing, these new zoning changes will do the exact samething as is happening in my neighborhood. It is and will continue to ruin the character and community of Bozeman's older neighborhoods for the sake of half-empty luxury apartments, vacation homes, and short-term rentals. As a homeowner and resident of NE Bozeman, I urge you to reconsider the new UDC and toprioritize the needs of working families and the long-term health of our community. Sincerely, Paula Mozen618 East Davis St. Bozeman, MT
