To Whom It May Concern: As a life time resident of Bozeman, I am asking you to reconsider the plan to redraw zoning codes. So many issues need to be considered. First look at traffic on many of the residential streets. If someone is not considerate and wait for an oncoming vehicle there are many hair raising moments to see who will stop and wait. Unfortunately courtesy does not always prevail. And then comes winter to add to the narrowness of the streets. Main Street is problematic when delivery people stop in right hand lane because they can’t assess the alley. And don’t get me started on left turns from Main Street! I am not able to park in front of my own home during business hours on a good week day, then add snow in the mix. And while we are talking about snow, what about water? You tell me I need to cut back on my water use. When will Bozeman run out of water? There is only a certain amount and it varies season to season. And let’s look at housing. Bozeman will continue to have an issue as long as we tear down “affordable” housing to build mega condos/town homes. Example: houses/apartments on Lamme, trailer courts on N Willson & 5th & Aspen. Take a drive down Mendenhall, Lamme, N Willson, N Tracy. Why do you approve such building in residential areas? There are a number of lots that could serve the purpose elsewhere. You are ruining Bozeman! We can have sensible growth without ruining the once beautiful downtown corridor. I don’t know why Bozeman has to be a rich man’s haven. If the rich want luxury living, go to Big Sky. Those buying up Bozeman should be able to flex their dollar power there. If all the people coming to Bozeman don’t find what they want or think they need, then go where you can be satisfied and leave Bozeman alone. I guess money talks, and I am running out if it. I can’t afford to grease the hand of the local government to let this outrageous growth continue. Besides saying NO to UDC why not put a moratorium on growth for 6-12 months and reassess the direction you have been taking Bozeman. Your idea of infill is ruining downtown Bozeman.
