Dear City Commissioners:
I’m writing to express my concern / distress over the proposed UDC consolidation of R1, R2
and R3 into RA, allowing developers to build up to three stories and eight units in residential areas. At least keep it to
areas being newly developed, where people moving in will know what they’re getting into.
In older neighborhoods where single family dwellings have existed for decades, this changecould ruin the character, even threaten the safety, of long-established residents. Having
purchased a modest home in such a neighborhood twenty years ago, I expect to ‘age inplace.’ If one of my neighbors sells their home and it were to be demo’ed and replaced with
an UP-grade, it would be devastating to my sunlight, property value and personal sanity. Please exempt ALL established single family neighborhoods from this rezoning.
On another note, let’s put a moratorium on building up, out, or in until we can figure out
better ways to build Bozeman. Allowing developers to pay cash-in-lieu (especially if it isskirting parking or low income housing percentage requirements, or water sourcing) seems
inappropriate. We’ve already sold out too much of our town and have placed far too littlevalue on water resources.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Logan
