Mangold - opposition to new R-A zoning as part of UDCFrom:Jane Mangold To:Agenda Subject:[EXTERNAL]opposition to new R-A zoning as part of UDC Date:Tuesday, October 3, 2023 7:15:08 PM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Greetings, I am providing comment on the proposed revision to zoning codes that would combine R-1, R- 2, and R-3 into a newly designated Zone R-A. I am opposed to this proposal which can andlikely will affect the character of residential neighborhoods in the older districts of Bozeman. As a resident of an older district (North Tracy Avenue), I have witnessed the increase in large,multi-story, and multi-dwelling living units. The vast majority of this development appears to be high-end, luxury townhouses, condos, and apartments that are beyond the purchasingpower of residents who live and work here on a year-round basis. While I can appreciate the merits of high density housing, the nature of development that is occurring is compromisingthe character and integrity of Bozeman while failing to provide housing that the average Bozemanite can afford. This seems like a lose-lose situation for everyone but the developersand anyone else who is making money off such developments: we the residents of Bozeman lose the beauty, character, and skyline views of our neighborhoods and we also loseopportunities for reasonably priced housing that working Bozemanites can afford. Respectfully submitted, Jane Mangold
