I am writing to oppose the UDC Zoning Changes. I only became aware of the proposed changes because a private
citizen left a notification at my door Saturday. Why did the City not provide notification of such a major change ?
After reviewing the information on your website about the changes, I oppose for the following reasons: the
contemplated increase in high density will strain our scarce water resources - we do not even know how we will
meet the next several years demand as it is; the Midtown area already has nine 6 story buildings planned or
completed within a block of where I live - (the two completed buildings are only partially occupied); although your
growth policy envisions “transition zones” between the higher density area and older single family homes, there are
none - the high density buildings are just feet away from these homes; the higher density buildings already
constructed are luxury, not affordable, residences; and, the enabling legislation allows three years to implement -
what’s the rush.
