Johnson - Affordable housing, and Frat and Sorority's in R1-R2 CDBFrom:Susan Johnson To:Agenda Subject:[EXTERNAL]Affordable housing, and Frat and Sorority"s in R1-R2 Date:Thursday, October 5, 2023 9:06:51 AM CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. Dear Community Development Board, You are thinking people, I know you want to do what is right…But what is right? I would like to speak on affordable housing and Frat. And Sororities in what is now R1 R2 neighborhoods. Affordable housing: Can you show all of us how the city will make an 8 apartment 3 story building in this neighborhood affordable. Consider demolition of several $700,000 homes and then million dollar construction….These are not going to be affordable and you and I know that. Who is the recipient of good on these buildings? The city, The builders? We know for SURE it is not the people of Bozeman…they are coming out on the short stick … Fraternities and Sororities: Is it right to establish more frats and sororities in the now R1-R2 area:… Is it the idea that more students in this area will be good for everyone or for just the University with constant asks from National Fraternities and Sororities to come to Bozeman. Is it the right thing for the single families to move away…and leave the neighborhood for just the students. Would that be the diversity that we are looking for? What is the reason for more Frats and Sororities in what is now R1 R2 neighborhood? We in this neighborhood already have more than 150 Frat and Sorority students living within blocks from each of us. All of us came into the neighborhood 40-30-20-5 years ago knowing we had that many students. We are already diversified. Frats and Sororities under Group Living category. We have been told that Frats and Sororities are group living. Is a Frat or Sorority Group Living? Group Living: is For those persons with disability, woman who need shelter away from domestic violence, foster care for young children who need love and care. For Developmental delayed adults learning to be a part of a loving community…and for housing for those who need any other type of assistance. 40-70+ students partying is NOT group living. You again are thinking people, think about what will be on the law for decades to come…Let’s don’t give our money to outside developers or planners who could CARE LESS about Bozeman. Keep Bozeman diversified, charming, Keep Bozeman as it is Keep R-1 R-2 as it is...and Thank you for listening to the public. Respectfully, Suzie Johnson 410 W. Arthur St. Beautiful Bozeman, Montana …
