Tonight I witnessed the Community Development Board give great consideration to the
investment that type 3 STR owners had made, in real property and in life decisions, based onexisting city law. The Board deliberated at great length about whether or not they could, in
good conscience, change the law that these folks had worked within to build their assets andstructure their lives. In the end they decided to grandfather in all existing type 3 STR's.
I hope when it comes time to review the radical impacts that the proposed R-A zone will have
on existing neighborhoods, you will give our investment in real property, sweat equity, andlife decisions the same weight and respect that you showed tonight for type 3 STR owners.
I grew up here. 6 generations actually. I am one homeowner. I live in my home. My
husband and I have spent 15 years fixing it up. Making it energy efficient. Installing solar hotwater and solar electric generating systems. Building gardens, planting 7 trees, keeping bees.
We are doing all the right things to make Bozeman a wonderful place to live but also a greenplace that meets the Climate Action Plan Goals that this city says it supports.
Our home is one story. 15 feet tall.
If you allow a 3 story, 45 foot tall building, with 8 units to go in to the south of me
it will destroy my real property, my investment, and the life decisions I have made
based on the existing R-2 zoning.
How can you, in good conscience, change the zoning regulations that I have worked within to
build my asset and structure my life? How can you pull the rug out from under us?
