Hello I have written before expressing my opposition with the new zoning - which would unfairly target
the areas of town unprotected by covenants (eg the old historic Southside and Northside) but amwriting now to ask two questions:
1. How strong are the historic restrictions for our old neighborhoods? How successful wouldit be oppose the destruction of old homes to build new condos from a "protecting historic
properties" standpoint? 2. The proposed 40% lot coverage maximum references only the building vs lot size, right?
So, it could be that 40% of a lot is occupied by a building and another 30% + is taken upwith a parking lot for the building's residents. Is that correct? If so, that is yet another
reason to oppose these plans, and instead build better, tighter zoning restrictions forhistoric Bozeman . . . this situation reminds me of old Joni Mitchell song Big Yellow
Taxi, esp the line "you don't know what you've got till it's gone . . . they paved paradise andput up a parking lot." There just has to be a better way!
Thanks for getting back to me on these two issues. Sincerely,
Lori
