Dear City Commissioners and staff, I do not agree with the current UDC changes as proposed for the following reasons: 1. Unless there is guaranteed water availability for the future growth in population, no increased development or increases in density should be approved. Proposals for wells and piping water from Canyon Ferry are not guaranteed water availability. 2. As a citizen of Bozeman and as a member of a cohesive neighborhood, I do not think theconsolidation of zones and increases in density of people/housing in an area will contribute to a better sense of community. If anything it will feel more crowded and congested than italready is. I live near the university and when the students come back we are very aware of the increase in density. Street noise, increased road congestion, increased parking offenses, increased driving offenses are all much higher than in the summer when the students are not attending classes. 3. This proposal for changes to the UDC should be put up for a vote to the citizens ofBozeman, not dictated from above by the legislature or the city commissioners and staff. This proposal is being rushed through on a timeline that is not acceptable. 4. I moved into my neighborhood because it consisted of single family houses in aneighborhood that had a sense of community. Our house had been a former student rental for many years before we bought it. The neighbors had had many problems with noisy and unrulybehavior and parties by the tenants before we arrived. They were thrilled that a permanent owner would be living in the house and gave us a very friendly welcome when we moved in. 5. The developers in Bozeman are driving and profiting from the building density boom, notthe residents. If the developers are going to continue to profit from their installations then they should be contributing more to the improvement in infrastructure that will need to bedone to support the increase in population. 6. Lastly, I'm concerned that if a multi story unit were to be constructed to the south of my house my potential for installing solar panels would be negated because of the permanentshading my house would experience. The environmental impact is going to be too great because of the lack of renewable energy installations that will not occur.
