I strongly oppose the RA zoning change. This an affront to the single-family homeowners in
residential neighborhoods who do not deserve to be subjected to the suffocating noise,
traffic, parking issues, rise in crime, and fundamentally altered character of their residential
neighborhoods that high-rise apartment complexes will bring. Many people invested not only
in their homes and neighborhoods but also in the safety, space, privacy, and relative quiet
sanctity in which their homes are located. As such, this change seriously undermines that
investment and is going way too far by prioritizing people who don’t even live here yet over
the families who do and who have supported this community with their property taxes and
good deeds for years.
A fundamental change on this scale with far-reaching implications for the future soul and
character of this community should be put up for a referendum vote directly to the people of
Bozeman in November 2024. It should not be left up to 5 people who have been so easily
influenced by developers and outside planning consultants.
Lastly, I find it very convenient that this vote on the zoning change comes right after the
upcoming November 7thelection. Why not have the vote before? It already seems rushed.
