Dear members of the Transportation Advisory Board-
Please consider the following comments during your work session tonight. My understanding
is that public comment has to be repeated by a member of the advisory board to have anystanding as part of your recommendations. So although, I haven't had an abundance of time to
go over the UDC changes and other plans, some things have come to my attention thatconcern me.
First, I think the final vote by the city commission on the UDC update should be delayed until
either I Ho Pomeroy returns to her post or a replacement is found and has time to review theproposed changes. I hope the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) will advise this.
Additionally, I think the following items should be reconsidered as they pertain to the TAB
with parking and overall traffic congestion.- Remove the R3 zone from RA and let it stand alone. Or limit units in RA to 4 or 6 but not 8.
- Please recommend AGAINST the exemption of a traffic impact study for developments withfewer than 55 units. I believe a traffic impact study and mitigation plan should be required for
all developments over 8 units. - Recommend AGAINST additional relaxations for parking in new developments in the
downtown core and other congested areas.
- DO support new paved or gravel bike paths that are separated from the roads and formultimodal users.
- However, in case this comes before you, please DO NOT support the paving of theGalligator Trail and other similar existing gravel pathways in both the downtown core and
other neighborhoods nor the lighting of them as these also currently serve as safe wildlifecorridors and excellent runners trails and would be hard or impossible to replace.
Thank you for your time, it is much appreciated.
