Hello, and thank you for taking our feedback on the proposed zoning changes for Bozeman.
We have lived on Cutting St in the Figgins Addition for about 20 years, and our neighborhood
is zoned R1. We do not agree with the proposed changes from R-1 to R-A. Figgins is a goodexample of a desirable neighborhood for families due to proximity to schools and downtown,
yet has no HOA or covenants. We have many rentals as well. If R-A is approved, there isnothing stopping wealthy property owners who do not occupy the homes to expand or rebuild
to accommodate many more renters. This is in contrast to instead preserving and strengtheninga lower-cost neighborhood where middle-income, working-class families can purchase homes
instead of renting. This neighborhood struggles to deal with on-street parking (especially inwinter, hindering emergency vehicles) and noisy rentals already. As an example, a fire truck
could not turn around on our street and could only back up the entire block. Adding R-Awould likely mean many families would leave, and we would lose an enjoyable, family-
oriented neighborhood that supports those who keep this town thriving.
Please do not change the R-1 zoning designation.
Thank you for your time,Matt and Juli Rognlie
