City Commissioners: I urge the commission to vote against item J 1. ordinance 2147. The ordinance
needs an overhaul rather than a revision, especially regarding the limit of 5 days stay in a location.
That limitation serves no purpose expect to force unhoused persons to move their vehicles
repeatedly around the city wasting time, money for gas, and creating frustration, uncertainty,
anguish, and anxiety. Paying a fee of $100 a day for an infraction is draconian. More thoughtful time
needs to be invested in developing realistic solutions to the situation of unhoused individuals and
families living in vehicles on city streets. Although a major problem, this ordinance is not a valid
solution and makes the situation worse, not better. Please vote against this ordinance.
