Dear City Commissioners -
As you know, finding affordable housing for many of our residents is impossible. I know you
care about this issue and in that light, I want to thank you very much for supporting the end ofR2 and R3 short-term rentals. Too many greedy people perceive housing for low-income
residents as less important than the excessive, unnecessary wealth they can generate from their"investments".
I also understand it is upsetting that so many of our residents are forced to live in RVs, vans,
etc. Its 2023, not 1933, but yet, here we are with even more discrepancy in wealth than we hadin the Great Depression. These people have nowhere else to go but their campers. If they
did, they certainly would not stay in their campers/RVs. Forcing them to move every 5 days ishumiliating and worse, its like "kicking-someone-when-they-are-already-down". It is cruel. I
don't want to live in a community that treats its most vulnerable with such lack of empathy.
Please don't support this callous proposal without providing a practical alternative foraffordable housing for these folks.
