To whom it may concern, I am in favor of these zoning chances especially with the year after year increase of incoming freshman students (latest freshman class had aprox. 6000 students) attending MSU and droves of people descending on this town. This town is changing and I personally am tired of the residents that provide no solutions and only cause more problems for the community, via their resisting of needed change. These residents want to continue to prohibit development that would provide college students and other residents an affordable place to live. We are not a small college town anymore. Bozeman and Montana State University have gotten national recognition over the last year (i.e. college game day coming to town, being featured in the New York Times, ect.) that is just drawing more and more people here, that we do not have housing for. As a community we need to have the availability to create more housing so that the market can balance and affordable housing will be more available, but this does not happen without the ability to build more condensed housing especially close to the college, north and Southside Bozeman to be exact, where it is most needed. Yes the ascetic of the south side and north side of Bozeman will be ruined, which is ridiculous to even think about but it seems to me that some members of this community care more about the ascetic of a small portion of this town more than housing people and have an outdated and unrealistic view of this city. Even with an update to the code people still have to sell their property for changes to happen so if you all are as neighborly as you claim don’t sell, make sure your not selling to a developer, or maybe develop the land yourself and have a continuous stream of income for your children and grandchildren… but if I owned a house in one of the neighborhoods that was getting redefined and was upset about the zoning change I would sell my property for an ungodly amount to a developer and retire to Three Forks or Ennis which from what I have heard is probably more like the Bozeman of the 80’s and 90’s that people seem to miss so badly and want to get back to… but alas I am not as I am a newly graduated less affluent member of this community who spends just about 50% of my monthly income on my current housing. To end my public comment I will say this; all posts opposing the zoning changes I have seen posted in the Bozeman chronicle and on next-door are mainly written by affluent home owners saying that they are scared and don’t want development as it will ruin there way of life and the ascetic of the community. I ask those people this what is your solution? Is it viable? Because I have not seen an answer to this housing problem other than development and limiting short term rentals. Finally to those still opposed to this updating of the code you will see issues in your neighborhood like I see mine today if we do not change something. As there are approximately 8-10 people that are living in campers on my street that I will gladly instruct to go park on the North and Southside of Bozeman and then your tune will change cause its all fun and games until you watch someone dump their human feces and waste down the sewer drain on your street like they do on mine (I will provide proof via video upon request, file did not fit in this email).
