Dear City Commision,
I have never written an email regarding any prior city policy change but feel compelled
with regards to this new zoning proposal. We have lived in the same house on
Bozeman’s northwest side for 20 years this October. I have a few bullet point concerns
below I would like addressed or considered.
• Reducing setbacks could have unintended consequences of even bigger less
affordable housing as square footage of current and future homes increases to take
advantage of reduced setbacks and what appears to allow taller structures.
• What little single-family affordable housing we have will be tore down to build
more overpriced rentals and luxury condos
• How do you plan to address parking with this increased density
I believe that preserving the neighborhoods we have should be a priority for the city. I
am saddened to see the development in our town that comes at the cost of tearing
down usable structures and adding more garbage to our landfills. We need more
density but encouraging developers to teardown more homes does not align with the
cities sustainability goals. Please consider the down stream affects of this new
proposal and look to new developments to meet our density and sustainability goals.
Thank you,
Matthew Jamison
