Karen Lanz Bozeman MT 59718 (406) 581-6079 Klanz123@icloud.com 15 September 2023 Bozeman City Commissioners: My granddaughter was visiting from Seattle, enjoying the beautiful morning and our yard the 12th of June. She had her eighth month old daughter on her back when she discovered a trespasser. The trespasser had a warrant for his arrest. This was the first time since living here I have had a known trespasser on my property. Bozeman has a public nuisance law, which includes public health and city cleanliness. It seems that this law is not being enforced as there are piles of stuff around the camper vans causing filthy conditions. This situation is offensive to the health of neighbors and passers-by. Allowing urban living off Davis Lane is affecting my mental health and well- being as I have become anxious about enjoying my property. I no longer walk to my mailbox. I have not walked off my property since the trespasser incident. I am continually checking that all buildings on our property are locked and secured. I have lived on Davis Lane almost 50 years. This is the first summer that I don’t feel safe walking my dog on the dedicated trail that begins between two of the urban campers. As a retired 40-year healthcare provider in Bozeman, I have concerns about sanitation. I have observed dumping of buckets of sewage near the wetlands. This situation puts an extra burden on first responders when they could be doing other tasks. I feel compassion for them, but this is not appropriate use of city or private property. Thank you for listening. Respectfully, Karen Lanz
