The state already allows 3 units on a single family residential lot. Why increase that to 8 in well established historic neighborhoods? Those properties will not be affordable for low income families as they will be located in prime real estate. There is plenty of room to grow and build affordable housing in the Gallatin Valley without destroying the historic charm that is the foundation of this wonderful city.
