Dear friends,
There is much to celebrate in the new UDC, from EV parking requirements to cluster
development.
But I cannot support it.
Collapsing the residential zoning districts into RA and RC is a nonstarter.
I live in R1 in Southeast Bozeman near the university. We bought it 14 years ago because ofthe neighborhood's family nature. But it has slowly transformed into a college rental zone,
with investment companies and rich parents buying homes that now house seven or morestudents – with all their cars, toys, parties, etc.
And now you tell me that someone can buy the house behind me, tear it down, and put a two-
story, four-unit apartment building looking over my backyard?
I agree density is important. Change the rules for those who are developing greenspace. Letpeople know what they are buying into. You're not creating affordable housing or improving
Bozeman with this rule change. You're destroying established neighborhoods.
Please send this one back to the drawing board. It needs more work.
