Bozeman Municipal Band and Bogert Bandshell City of Bozeman Attn: Mayor & City Manager (Delivery by hand) 9/11/23 RE: My letter Aug. 2. Bozeman Municipal Band and Bogert Bandshell I am disappointed you never acknowledged, replied or took any known action regarding my letter of Au st 2(copy attached). Ant cia City of Bozeman N ,, F,0 D Atty: City Mayor l August 2, 2003 RE: Bozeman Municipal Band and Bogert Bandshell. to -LZ- 2-3 As one of hundreds of city residents who enjoy the city's summer band concerts at Bogart Park, I wish to advise you of serious problems and a single reasonable solution. Problems & Solutions: A The band shell is in dangerous condition. About 65 players sit on this stage every Tuesday night. It is over 80 years old and rotting away. The City, the musicians, and general public is in jeopardy of experiencing tragic personal injuries. Kids play on it, and there are no safety railings on it. It might be less costly to build one of concrete and steel. B The band needs a place to practice. The City could provide a space. C The band needs players. The City could place ads in the newspaper and posters in schools and the University. D The band needs musical instruments. The City could provide the funds. To my knowledge the City does nothing to assist it's own band. 1 believe the City is growing and it's wealth is increasing and can easily fund its own band with a satisfactory budget. The officers of the band should provide you with an itemized annual budget. B co of this letter, to Ms. Karla Visser ask them to do so if they g Y copy haven't already done. At every concert the President of the band requests the general public for their donations. The general public already pays enough in taxes and should not have to contribute to the band. I ask you for your fa orable consideration and reply. Anthony Gar a Resident of Bozeman 1201 Highland Blvd, Apt B201, Bozeman MT 59715 406-595-1063 Tonynjane1960@gmail.com
