Community Development Board,
I live on the 200 block of East Olive Street. Before our street was reconstructed in 2018, we were
told that 3000 cars use Olive Street in a 24 hour period. I can only imagine how many cars use it
now. WE DO NOT HAVE THE INFRASTRUCTURE TO ACCOMMODATE MORE CARS! As it is, even in the
summer, there are often times when two cars cannot pass each other and someone has to decide to
pull over somewhere and let the other car pass.
If this does pass, and I sincerely hope it won’t, I was told that parking arrangements can be worked
out with neighbors if there are not enough parking spaces for a 4 plex, etc. What if the neighbor
moves and no longer wants to allow parking for additional vehicles? Working out additional parking
spaces with neighbors should not be allowed in order to get the green light for a 4 plex, etc.
The historical district I live in is one that people love to walk through and it will be changed forever if
these code changes are passed. PLEASE GIVE SERIOUS THOUGHT to the ramifications of the changes
being proposed!
Thank you,
Irene Decker
