September 11, 2023 Dear Community Development Board, I am writing to ask you to slow down on the residential zoning changes proposed in the UDC draft. They are drastic! I understand that a certain amount of change is necessitated by Montana law, but this proposal moves more quickly and dramatically than required. Specifically, I ask that you do not make a RA zone - comprised of current R1, R2, and R3 - which would permit 8plex units in any and all residential zones. This is too big a jump for R1 and R2 zones. Consider how established old neighborhoods with mature trees, charming historic houses, and a sense of community will be destabilized. Does the City of Bozeman truly wish to tear apart the original heart and soul of historic Bozeman which is thriving and healthy as is? The proposed RA zone would put the economic incentive in the hands of developers to speedily buy up longtime single-family houses and replace them with 8plex’s, leading to the demise and disappearance of established neighborhoods throughout Bozeman (Cooper Park, University, South Central, Bogert Park, Lindley Park, South East, Figgins, and New Hyalite View). Please vote No on the proposed RA zone. Respectfully, Aimee Morel-Seytoux Bozeman, MT 59715
