I am writing to express my opposition to the proposed ordinance to regulate urban camping. I
object to the proposed rule to move every five days and to the $100 penalties that thisordinance proposes.
We have a housing crisis. Costs soar and vacancies are limited.The people who are living inthe city in trailers with no access to electricity, water, or other amenities are doing so out of
necessity. These regulations and penalties will result in a criminalization of those with fewoptions.
Bozeman has a strong tradition of not shipping unhoused people out of the city. Let's stay trueto that and find other solutions. Let's make the urban encampments as safe as possible for
now, and then focus on providing housing.Julia Shaida
