I object to passage of Resolution No. 5520 as written, an increase in the percentage rate of the assessment for the
tree maintenance district. The assessment should be continued at its present rate. I object not because I don't like
trees, but rather because the 4% rise becomes part of an overall burden of property taxes, a slowly rising weight
that will at some point meet with taxpayer fatigue. A cost will eventually be felt when voters decline some
important bond issue.
