Subject: Support for Ordinance 2147 - Enhancing Community Safety and Welfare
Dear Commissioners,
I am writing to wholeheartedly endorse Ordinance 2147, which focuses on the Provisional
Adoption of Regulations for Camping on City Right-of-way (Peters, Saverud). This ordinanceplays a pivotal role in safeguarding the safety, health, and overall well-being of our
community.
Ensuring that camping within the public right-of-way is regulated is crucial in maintaining aharmonious living environment. The proposed ordinance takes into account various locations,
including residential areas, commercial establishments, public parks, schools, and daycarefacilities, where camping should be prohibited. This not only preserves the integrity of these
spaces but also promotes a safer environment for everyone.
A growing concern is the escalation of crime, assaults, and the presence of tents near trailswithin our city parks. These issues have significantly curtailed our community's ability to fully
enjoy these precious amenities. It is imperative that families, like mine, are able to utilize thesespaces without apprehension for their safety.
Ordinance 2147 effectively tackles these issues through the implementation of regulations that
prohibit camping within and in close proximity to parks. By doing so, it effectively reducesthe risks associated with crime and assaults. This proactive approach is crucial in prioritizing
the welfare of our residents and in creating an environment where families can confidentlyengage with the city's offerings.
As an active member of our community, I implore you to recognize the profound importance
of this ordinance in fostering a secure environment that benefits all individuals. By supportingthis ordinance, we can collectively prioritize the health, safety, and general welfare of our
community as a unified entity.
I sincerely urge your invaluable support for Ordinance 2147 during its upcoming discussionon August 8th.
Best regards,
Courtney Johnson
