Hello, I’m writing you to express how deeply disappointing it was to watch and hear the city commission table the discussion about the Urban Campers. We have been waiting since 6pmto listen about this discussion on how the city plans to help. Now four hours later the City Commission decided that it is too late to discuss this topic. For the major to comment that this could not be brought up again until January is ironic andconvenient for them. Seeing how that is when they’re up for reelection. Not only ironic but a complete slap in the face for us that live adjacent to these “urban campers”, have to listen tothe generators while trying to sleep, and feel safe around where we pay to live. I would like the explanation as to how or why is it considered “criminalizing homelessness”, by asking these individuals to follow boundaries and guidelines. Individuals that for the mostpart are dangerous/violent, have criminal records, sex offenders, drug addicts, and/or drug dealers. If the city is worried about the drug overdose problem we have had. They should auditwhen this started to raise and compare the raise of “Urban Campers.” Nobody is being read their rights they are being asked to simply move away from those they are potentially causing harm to. Especially those that are parked near schools and parks. Atthat point it is not criminalizing homelessness. It is upholding the law and the terms of that individual’s probation/parole. They are being asked to follow rules and the law. If there is adifference between them and me. Please let me know which laws and guidelines apply to me and not them. Overall, I would like that explanation ASAP. If this is not within your wheelhouse, forward toall appropriate parties. I do not wish to waste my time nor yours waiting on a response I will not receive, like my prior email to Takami. -Marisa Escobedo -- Marisa Escobedo (541)212-5444
