Hello, I’m Hannah Bagley, a resident of Sundance at Baxter Meadows apartment complex. I’m emailing to voice
my concerns for the street camping occurring practically in my “backyard”.
I have lived here for three and a half years now, this issue has continued to get worse as time goes on. It started with
a couple of campers, keeping to themselves, here and there. Now it is dozens of campers, vehicles and tents on every
street adjacent to my home. They no longer keep to themselves, they are dumping furniture and leaving mounds of
trash in the fields. I understand struggling with the price of living in Bozeman, I understand needed to live out of
your vehicle. But there is no excuse for trashing our town, and peoples land.
I have also lost the sense of safety I had at our complex prior to this issue. I have a golden retriever, who loves
everyone and everything, she doesn’t bark or growl at all. But when I take her for our nightly walks she often growls
at the fields, like someone is there in the dark, this is something she never did, before. I have had to start carrying
and keeping my phone on me, just to walk my dog around my own home. It just doesn’t feel as safe as it used too.
Or as it should.
There are campers, tents and vehicles all along Kimberwicke St, Galloway St, Equestrian Ln, Caspian Ave,
Veronica Way and even in front of the park on Vaquero Pkwy. Something needs to be done about this.
