Dear City Commission, Thank you for your recent decision to hold off on building the new community center. While I would love more recreational options for my child and me, the price tag would have been too much to swallow. I appreciate your recognizing this and using your decision making power to protect us tax payers from the financial burden it would have placed on us. I do think Bozeman’s artificially rapid rate of growth put us in this situation. I understand that cities naturally grow and develop but the active promoting of Bozeman as a wonderful place to live and work is what is putting us in this crunch situation. At the very least, the City should be generating cash flow hand over fist with all the development going on. Admittedly I don’t fully understand the constraints but if every new development project had to put in a certain reasonable percentage for community services to accommodate all the new people they are drawing here, we’d be in a better position. Residents expect and deserve amenities like community centers. Please do more to require developers to give a portion of their profits and/or seek philanthropic donations (with no strings attached) to ease the burden on home owners like myself. Thank you, again, for hitting the pause button. I encourage you to use it more often. Best, Angie Kociolek 620 N Tracy Ave Bozeman, MT 59715
