First, thank you for listening to our outcries to make our communities beautiful and safer
again. I have read to the best of my ability the proposal to put restrictions on the urbancamping areas that are increasingly popping up in our city.
While we are in total agreement, one word is bothering me - “involuntarily” homeless. I think
I understand what this is saying, but you may want to consider that there are some personswho are voluntarily houseless, actually choosing this lifestyle and association for a time.
Houselessness, homelessness, addiction, unemployment, abandonment, whatever description
we choose to use, is an extremely complex and difficult problem. I am very thankful for theresources and assistance offered by HRDC, Love, Inc., Family Promise, Salvation Army and
other agencies offering help. But I am certain that we have all experienced the difficulties withinadequate staffing in multitudes of businesses with Help Wanted signs in almost every
business window.
Thank you for beginning this effort to protect those of us who work or have worked intoretirement, who have overcome addiction and struggled into a comfortable lifestyle in our
amazing city.
