I am contacting Bozeman City Commissioners to voice my position on the URBAN
CAMPING CRISIS NOW UNDERWAY. This issue is not new and should have been stoppedyears ago. I do feel very sorry for our homeless residents and wish them no harm. I hope that
we can find a way to solve this problem in such a manner that they will be accepting of. Thefirst thing that comes to mind is that we should try to set up a place for them to camp near
Bozeman, possibly on some unused farmland, where they can have sanitary facilities- porta-potties water supply, and dumpsters so they will not be scattering trash and body excrement
and disease. This will cost us residents some additional taxes to take care of them, but it maybe the right thing to do. I think this should be a first consideration.
If this is not reasonable, then the City must take actions to end this . It is wrong for us to
permit this abuse of the City Of Bozeman by freeloading on all of the rest of us. I know thereare many cities where urban camping is prohibited and laws are enforced. There is no reason
why Bozeman cannot pass laws restricting overnight camping on all city streets. Jerald Sherman
