Mitigation Work Session
I am writing to support the City of Bozeman hiring two FTEs to "implement and track
local wetlands mitigation requirements and provide regulatory oversight" previously
delegated to the U.S. Government.
That said, I offer two suggestions about the roles and responsibilities of these two
FTEs. First, it would be helpful if one of the two FTEs were an Urban Ecologist/ForestEcologist with wetland experience (broader focus) and if the other FTE were a
Wetland Specialist (narrower focus). Second, it would be helpful if both FTEs were
independent of the City's planning department, which would allow both FTEs to
provide full, fair, and independent reviews of all proposed residential and commercialdevelopments and of all proposed City developments and City road building.
