Dear COB Parking and all concerned -
My name is Angie Wasia and I live at 1020 West Villard across from BHS on the corner of
North 11th.
I am writing in response to your letter dated June 22, 2023. As neighbors of the BHS parking
district we encourage that any funding requests also include school district #7.
As we all know, drivers will park wherever most convenient to their route. Parking districts
next to MSU and BHS were established to encourage staff and students to park on
school grounds rather than in the surrounding neighborhoods.
As you are aware, BHS has had a number of renovations take place since 2009 that have
impacted parking accommodations on school property. The original middle school set back,
parking and drop off at North 11th avenue and Villard were removed and thus severely
impacted the peaceful enjoyment of the neighborhood with drivers stopping in the
neighborhood rather than on school property. We experienced similar disruption with the
stadium relocation that didn't take the parking and fencing with it that encouraged drivers to
park on property and direct visitors to appropriate school portals/accesses.
With these design modifications and impacts in mind, we encourage you to continue working
with the schools regarding their master planning. Any changes in design ought to
accommodate parking on property and portal access. And the schools ought to be asked to
share in the cost burden of the necessary parking districts.
Thank you, kindly and very best wishes, Angie Wasia, 406-581-3017
