Dear Mayor and Commissioners, I kindly urge you to approve the request by Family Promise of Gallatin Valley for anallocation of $400,000 to be used toward the purchase of the Montana Bible College campus, to serve FPGV’s clients in need of emergency, transitional, and workforce housing. Thefamilies we serve need safe and comfortable housing with features that are appropriate for children. At this point in time, we serve our most vulnerable clients in hotel rooms that are notdesigned for long-term living, or for children and are at times unsafe. A family that recently graduated from our Shelter program completed an exit survey and when asked how FPGV canimprove our program for future guests, the mother spoke about sharing the space with other families and the lack of discipline, rule-following, and that, “A separate shelter would make itmore manageable”. We consistently have 10-15 families on a waiting list for Emergency Shelter. If we can purchase the Bible College campus, we will be able to greatly increase thequality and quantity of housing options for our clients. When these folks are housed and stable, they contribute to our community and make a positive economic impact. Investing inthese children and their families means investing in our community. We urge you to allocate the requested funds. Thank you!
