Dear Mayor and Commissioners,
I am writing this letter with a plea for you to approve the housing allocation of $400,000 for the
purchase of the Montana Bible College to serve the Family Promise of Gallatin Valley in order to
provide safe housing for vulnerable families. My husband was a resident of Bozeman throughout
his childhood and during his undergraduate studies at Montana State University. It has eased my
loss of him two years ago to be able to make donations to that wonderful organization. We were
and I am a resident of Milwaukee, which suffers from the terrible indignities of homelessness. The
book " Eviction" by Matthew Desmond, discusses the destituteness of this state for families and
especially children. I was a teacher for fourteen years for several children, who were victims of this
terrible condition. Please consider making this donation to insure safety and care to the residents
of your beautiful area. I send you my thanks in memory of my husband and with my sincere hope
of receiving the allocation.

Hi all –
I apologize for the short notice but just got back from vacation this morning.
I applied for $400,000 from the City to Bozeman that will be used for the purchase of our new
campus. This application is in alignment with the City’s current priorities ofaffordable housing.
By tonight, please consider submitting a letter of support for our grant application
toagenda@bozeman.net. In the Subject you could write “I am in Support of Family Promise’s Grant
Request.”
Below is sample language you can use, or you can pull content from the attached document.
Dear Mayor and Commissioners,
I urge you to approve the request by Family Promise of Gallatin Valley for an allocation of $400,000 to be
used toward the purchase of the Montana Bible College campus, to serve FPGV’s clients in need of
emergency, transitional and workforce housing. The families we serve need safe and comfortable housing with
features that are appropriate for children. Currently, we have to serve our most vulnerable families in hotel
rooms that are not designed for long-term living or for children and are at times unsafe. We have many
families on a waiting list for any kind of shelter. If we are able to purchase the Bible College campus, we will
be able to greatly increase the quality and quantity of housing options for our clients. When these folks are
housed and stable, they contribute to our community and make a positive economic impact. Investing in them
means investing in our community. We urge you to allocate the requested funds.
Thank you for your consideration!
Robin
