Rouse Ave. Bozeman MT, 59715 Dear commissioners: On behalf of the working class and the people with disabilities of Bozeman Montana I am writing to you with the utmost respect to consider building more affordable housing for the working and disabled population of Bozeman. I believe that everyone deserves a place to call home and we can make it possible. After thinking about this extensively, I would like to share my ideas. First, we as a community buy land or designate land, (Perhaps the space where the former KMART was located) for affordable housing or apartments. Then second, we as a community buy the materials and higher the crews out of a fund or from a percentage of tax revenue. I was also just informed that the lot where KMART used to be is owned by D.K. Martinen LLC 401 Sunnyslope Road Yakima, WA 98908-9016 And George Westlake 15008 SE Graham Road Vancouver, WA 98683-8541 So, my basic proposal is that the city of Bozeman rents this property from these individuals or buy it for the working class and disabled of Bozeman and charge them 30% of their monthly income as their rent. That way the city gets the workforce that it needs, and the workforce gets the housing that will keep them and their families here. After all, without us and a workforce your community stops being functional and inclusive for everyone. In conclusion, providing someone with a home or place to live should be a human right and not something only a few can afford, and the rest must fight over. We all need a roof over our head and a place to call homeā€¦ Respectfully Yours , Victor Thuemler Peer, Advocate for AbilityMT and a concerned Bozeman resident.
