Subject: Correction to my previous public comment dated 6-22-23 for Action Item G.1
In my previous public comment, I made the mistake of commenting on the
memorandum associated with Action Item G.1 instead of commenting on Resolution
5502. Consequently, I offer the following correction:
I am writing to ask that the Urban Parks and Forestry Board (UPFB) not recommendthe adoption of Resolution 5502 because this resolution does not acknowledge the
necessity of protecting and preserving Bozeman’s natural open spaces as related to
the proposed PRAT plan. My arguments for not adopting Resolution 5502 are as
follows—given a working definition of natural open space as “undeveloped land that ispreserved in its natural state.”
Via Adobe Acrobat Reader, I searched Resolution 5502 for the words/terms “natural,”
“open space(s),” and “natural open space(s).” The results were:
(1) No (zero) matches to the word “natural”;
(2) One match to the term “open space(s),”which references the previous PROST
PLAN; and (3) No (zero) matches to the term “natural open space(s).”
These three results indicate that Resolution 5502 does not even acknowledge the
existence of Bozeman’s natural open spaces let alone acknowledge the importanceof protecting and preserving Bozeman’s natural open spaces in any City document
related to the City’s natural open-space parks and groomed urban parks, as well as to
the City’s recreation, trails, and active transportation needs. Consequently, I ask
again that the UPFB not recommend the adoption of Resolution 5502.
