Good morning, Coral Construction crews will continue line post layout and installation on Interstate 90 (I 90) between Manhattan and Belgrade Monday through Friday, 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, from 5 a.m. to noon. One crew will be working in the median, requiring the westbound and eastbound left lanes closest to the median to be closed in the area. Please slow down and watch for workers and equipment. Drivers should anticipate minor travel delays due to lane closures and reduced speeds. Fourth of July holiday work schedule: Work will pause starting Saturday, July 1, through Sunday, July 9, to accommodate increased holiday traffic and give workers time to spend with their families. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Building Connections to Bring Montana Together – Good Roads Day is June 20, 2023 If you’re traveling in Montana, chances are good you’ll need a road to help reach your destination. There are over 73,000 miles of roads open to public travel in our state, including nearly 13,000 miles of MDT routes, that accommodate over 13 billion annual vehicle miles traveled (AVMT). Simply put, roads and roadways (including bridges) keep our great state connected and moving forward! The third Tuesday in June marks Good Roads Day. This important date was designated by the Montana Legislature in 1947, whereby the people of the state are asked to contribute toward the improvement and safety of public highways (MCA 60-1-104). For MDT, building “good roads” takes time and means a continuous planning process that is underway long before ground is ever broken on a project. It can take eight years to complete a road project, but long-range planning starts (depending on the project) 1-20 years prior to the project start date. As transportation needs outpace revenue 3 to 1, MDTfocuses on safety and preserving and maintaining transportation infrastructure as top priorities; in other words, keeping Montana’s good roads in good order. Join MDT in celebrating Good Roads Day on June 20, 2023, and share what #GoodRoads mean to you!
