Public Comment for City Commission Meeting 6/13/2023 on: Dear Bozeman City Commission: As homeowners in the Meadow Creek Subdivision we are writing in support of Zoning the new “Gran Cielo II” subdivision land as a transitional R3/R4. We feel that this plan is a win-win development for both our area and for the City of Bozeman, as it creates significant new housing while also minimizing the impact to current residents. This plan, which represents a collaboration with the existing subdivision and the developer, is a model of how groups can work together for common benefit. The City Commission approving the plan would show support for efforts like this in the future. We have been informed that the City is considering zoning this land REMU instead of the current proposal. This would be a setback for future collaborations such as the one between Meadow Creek and the Gran Cielo II developer. The City should be seeking to foster efforts such as this, and a vote to approve the collaboratively agreed upon plan would show that these efforts are ones that parties should undertake going forward. Under the current plan the developer has also agreed to keep a stand of mature trees (some of the only ones in the area) that may be lost under the REMU plan. With a commercial development being built mere blocks away on the land that abuts Meadow Creek and Gran Cielo I and the need for housing in the City of Bozeman, residential Zoning of a transitional R3/R4 makes the most sense for this land. Thank you for your time and consideration, we urge a “YES” vote on the proposal for Transitional R3/R4 Zoning of the land for Gran Cielo II. Sincerely, Billy Smallen and Paige Ormond 3222 S. 26th Ave. Bozeman, MT 59718
