To the City Commission and Community Development Department:
I am writing to express my concerns about 216 housing units being built across the street where I
live at 612 N. 3rd Avenue. I do understand the need for affordable rentals in Bozeman, but this new
complex needs more parking units than currently planned. The average number of vehicles per
household is 1.8 which totals 388 parking spaces; however, only 271 parking spaces are anticipated.
My husband George Baskin and I find that our parking is currently curtailed by the relatively new 17
units developed by Julien Morice across the street from our place in spite of the fact that each unit
has two underground parking spaces. It is hard to imagine how busy and crowded our street will be,
especially when the only road access is two blocks on North 3rd.
In addition, I am concerned about the appearance and height of the complex as well as the time it
will take to construct these units. I realize the desirability of this proposal due to its affordability and
number of units, but I also know that our property values will decline in value as well.
Thank you for your consideration of my concerns.
