To Nakeisha and Bozeman Department of Community Development,
We're writing to request the proposed Thriftway Super Stop Site plan
application #22039 and special permit under BMC 38.230.120 that wants to build a gas stationat the corner of Davis and Baxter be denied.
My husband and I wish to strongly and adamantly protest the building of this gas station! We
want this building application to the city to be denied by the Department of CommunityDevelopment.
Our home backs up to Davis and is less than a block away from Baxter Lane. When our home
was built and purchased in October 2016 there was considerably much less traffic along Davisand Baxter. The traffic increased since the traffic light was installed at Baxter and as the area
has built more homes, apartments and condos. We love our home and have enjoyed ourbackyard. However, if a commercial high traffic site such as a gas station is constructed next
to our home, not only will the value of our property decrease but we will be forced to moveaway because of the horrible noise from the traffic coming through to the gas station.
For the following reasons we believe that a Thriftway gas station should be denied a building
permit::
1. Traffic studies have been incomplete and have not considered the future high increasedtraffic that will impact the residential community and the quality of life for all the residents in
The Baxter Meadow Area and beyond. With a gas station within a couple blocks of a very niceestablished residential community there will be the extremely disturbing intrusion of much
louder traffic 24/7.
2. There is absolutely no need for a gas station within our residential neighborhood!Within a very short distance of 1 to 1.5 miles from the proposed Thriftway site are 4
convenient gas stations that can be accessed within 5 minutes or less. It seems completelysenseless to add a gas station to a relatively small residential community. Keep gas stations to
the main commercial streets and areas of town. People in our community do not need a gasstation that they can walk a block to!
3. Bozeman should not start mixing in high traffic and noisy commercial businesses such as
gas stations into quiet residential communities. A gas station will not be welcomed by theresidents of our community.
4. A detrimental high traffic gas station will lower the property values and resale values of the
homes within the community as well as making living in the community much less desirable.
5. Children within our community enjoy being able to safely ride their bikes and walk in our
residential area. Having a high traffic gas station nearby will make walking around ourneighborhood much less safe and enjoyable.
When we moved into our new home six years ago, we never dreamed that there would
someday be a smelly, polluting and noisy gas station next to our home!
We implore the city council to be reasonable, sensible, and have compassion for the standardof living in our residential community that our residents love and deny the Thriftway Super
Stop Plan and Special Use Permit to build a gas station at the corner of Baxter Land andDavis. Let Thriftway build their gas station along 19th, 7th, Main, or Huffine Lane.
We hope to hear soon that Thriftway will not be allowed to build a gas station near our home
and lovely family friendly neighborhood.
Respectfully,
Ken and Patricia Saatjian1896 Marias Lane
