Hello,
I'm a parent with a child enrolled at Bozeman Montessori preschool, located at the corner of
Vaquero and Equestrian Lane in Valley West (immediately north of Baxter Lane).
There is a homeless couple living in a derelict school bus that has broken down immediatelyadjacent to the school play area. See the attached pic:
The fence to the right borders the kids' playground, and the bus is blocking the primaryintersection and stop sign where family pickup/dropoff occurs.
Based on a conversation with a Bozeman police officer, I understand the laws that govern theirright to "park" there are held under the US Court 9th Circuit out of California. I would like tochallenge these laws, and was advised to begin with the Bozeman City Commission.
Can you please advise me on the next best steps to begin challenging the legal notionthat homeless people have a right to camp within spitting distance of a preschool play space?Note that I also left a voicemail with Takami Clark late yesterday.
I look forward to discussing the matter further.
