Thank you, Bozeman City Commissioners, for looking into the electric scooters and the problems caused by riders and negligent scooter owners. Last year, I encountered adults onsidewalks, riding the electric scooters from the city approved rental company. The encounters forced me and companions to step off sidewalks onto downtown, busy streets--quitedangerous. I encountered the same situations on sidewalks in city neighborhoods! And no traffic coursed past, just people on scooters on sidewalks. And scooters on non-motorizedtrails! So inconsiderate, so dangerous, so un-Bozeman. The worst part, at least in my southside neighborhood, is that the rental scooters were left on sidewalks, in driveways, in streets FOR DAYS, WEEKS AND EVEN MONTHS! Onescooter, left on Langhor for 3 months, became quite a hazard with the October snows. And the November snows. I tried leaving a message for the rental company--mailbox full. Please. If you again approve the use of the scooters--and I do see merit in the e-scooter rentalsto keep a few cars/trucks off the road or keep drunks off the roads, well sort of off the roads-- please please please FORCE THE RENTAL COMPANY TO PICK UP THE SCOOTERSWITHIN 12 HOURS OF END-OF-USE or impound at owners' expense--huge expense. Make and enforce a hefty fine for riding on sidewalks. Place signage at trailheads clarifying that thescooters are not allowed and add a huge fine. Jean Arthur-Sellegren Bozeman, MT
