Dear Bozeman City Commissioners,
We are writing to express our strong opposition to the proposed rezoning of Jarret Zone Map
Application 23047 from R-1 to R-2. We live at 1019 Brookdale Drive in Alder Creek and the
Jarret Zone is directly behind our house. One of the reasons we purchased our lot on
Brookdale Drive back in 2009 was because the Jarret area was zoned R-1 and felt comfortable
knowing that a single family residential home would be directly behind us. Now finding out
they would like to rezone it to R-2 we believe that such a change would have a negative
impact on the character and livability of our neighborhood.
R-1 zoning is designed for single-family homes, with adequate setbacks and green spaces to
ensure a high quality of life for residents. R-2 zoning, on the other hand, allows for denser
development, potentially leading to overcrowding and a loss of privacy for those who live
nearby.
In addition, R-2 zoning often leads to increased traffic and parking issues, which could cause
safety concerns for children and pedestrians - especially since Morning Star Elementary School
is very close by. It could also lead to additional strain on city infrastructure, such as water and
sewer systems.
We urge you to carefully consider the potential consequences of this rezoning and to prioritize
the well-being of the community in your decision-making process. Please do not approve
Jarret Zone Map Application 23047 to be rezoned from R-1 to R-2.
