Dear City of Bozeman, This is an opportunity to capitalize on doing things differently that will have a lasting and positive impact far into the future. These stands and groves of mature trees, both great andsmall, throughout the valley are teeming with life. They provide the perfect mix of cover, water and food for countless critters, also great and small... all the way down to importantmicrobial ones. They also provide natural water-treatment, small wetland habitat pockets, snow and wind breaks, raptor nesting, and drought protection. I believe these beautifulCottonwood groves are valuable resources, essential to the health of the valley and are worthy of being protected. The loss of the large stand at Fowler and Huffine, East of Rosauers, is atragic one. That was a consistent raptor nesting location for the last 30+ years. It was always a delight to drive back into town and see hawks flying over those fields. I support the plan tocreate a Fowler Trail system and to preserve the existing land between Oak and Davis with a west-side 'Gallagator' trail. I am very fortunate to live off of the east-side one and it doesprovide constant connection from the Museum all the way to Main Street, a community garden, year-round walking/biking/dog-walking, live water, small wetlands, and variedhabitats. It adds greatly to an exceptional quality of life for all! Sincerely, Ellen-Therese Lamm
