Rouse Avenue Bozeman MT, 59718 Dear Bozeman City Commission, In the wake of the pandemic, it became normal to work remotely, thereby freeing many people from their ties to metropolitan cities and opening the door for them to move to places like Bozeman. Its many appealing qualities — beautiful mountain surroundings, ample shops and restaurants, and increased accessibility — are making it increasingly desirable for many. However, Bozeman is facing a problem in providing sufficient and affordable housing options. Costs of purchasing a home or even a condo have soared beyond the reach of families with an annual income below $100,000. This has caused some of the people necessary to keep the town running — like trades and career personnel —to consider leaving due to the lack of viable living options. We must consider ways to increase affordable housing in Bozeman before we face a real problem of lack of service personnel due to the cost of living. We need to build multi-family housing, along with smaller lots and smaller homes, to make it a viable option for those in lower-income brackets. The surge of pandemic-related growth we've seen in Bozeman makes this a critical priority. Sincerely, R"fe- 5
