Lead Service Line (LSL) Technical Assistanceand Funding Community Training
The Community MT Community Technical Assistance Program (CTAP), and
DEQ will host a community training on Thursday, March 16 at 10:00 am to
share information regarding community applications for funding and
Technical Assistance for completion of the LSL Inventory. This training will
be recorded and posted on the LSL Technical Assistance Program page.
The federal government is requiring each state to complete an inventory of
lead service lines. People can be exposed to lead in drinking water through
lead pipes. There is no safe level of lead and the amount of lead service
lines in Montana is not fully known. The inventory of lead service lines must
be completed by October 16, 2024.
The Community Technical Assistance Program (CTAP), housed within the
Department of Commerce’s Community MT Division, is charged with
providing technical assistance to help Montana communities plan for Lead
Service Line (LSL) projects.
Technical assistance will support Community and Non-Community Non-
Transient water supplies in applying for additional funding for completing
inventory activities and replacement or mitigation of lead service lines. The
goal of providing LSL Technical Assistance is to support as many small
systems (serving less than 10,000 persons) as possible with the
development of Lead Service Line Inventories, Lead Service Line
Replacement Plans and/or lead service line replacements.
Applications for the LSLTechnical Assistance Program are now being
accepted. Please join the conversation on Thursday, March 16 at 10:00 am
to learn more.
