Dear City of Bozeman Commissioners and Sanderson Stewart, It has come to my attention that there are plans to destroy an existing wild corridor and trail that runs through quiet neighborhoods, replacing it with a major arterial road, the FowlerAvenue Connection project. As someone who has long used the trail that runs through this neighborhood, I am deeply disturbed that the City of Bozeman plans to destroy this corridorby extending Fowler and creating a major arterial road. If this project goes forward, it would be a travesty! It is past time for the City of Bozeman to begin listening to those who live in existingneighborhoods. We do not need this kind of road in this neighborhood! The focus should be on preserving wild corridors, not creating more arterial roads through fragile, existingneighborhoods. As a resident who has lived in this part of town for 21 years, I urge the City of Bozeman to scrap this plan and do the right thing for this neighborhood! At most, improving the surface ofthis trail, and making it a connector trail for this part of town is all that should be done. Take a walk through this area and imagine you own your home that abuts the proposed arterial street and think seriously about how such a street would destroy the peace and quiet of yourhome and neighborhood. It is imperative that these fragile neighborhoods be protected and that the City of Bozeman does not create this arterial street. We do not need a major arterial road and more cars in this part of town. The City of Bozemanneeds to be planning in ways that reduces our city’s carbon footprint, preserves the peace and quiet of existing neighborhoods, and preserves the few remaining wild corridors in this part oftown.
