Please Vote NO on Shady Glen subdivision. See reasons below. Thank you. Susan
Dear Bozeman City Commissioners,
We’ve lived in Bridger Greens (1037 Boylan ) for 15 years. Each year, the weather gives us different
water, snow, and melt off tendencies. Boylan Road flooded in 2008. Now in 2023 an icy buildup
started in November, as the city plows the area infrequently. Shady Glen sits at the path into the
woods, a place where the road can become a lake.
Between 2008 and 2023, uphill developments and new fill-in houses/driveways have also eliminated
some drainage areas. Those new homes, driveways, and roads cause more water to flow into the
streets. And we are down the hill. I wonder if this is one of the lowest points in Bozeman.
Another consideration: snow plowing. Plows seem to be challenged by our cul de sac circle of
condos. Snow is piled 10-12 feet high and there’s not any place to move it to. Then it will melt
down towards our condo. Persons on the low end might need canoes!
Do you know? Besides having only one exit (through a condo loop on Birdie whose buyers were told
it would not be a thoroughfare!), the wetlands could end up as a flood zone.
And deer, moose, bears, coyotes, raccoons, and other critters roam the area as it’s between the
mountains and the woods edging the East Gallatin River.
