Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe. I would rather be rear ended than be T-Boned. The amendment does not allow ticketing orcitations. But it might make drivers think twice about running red lights on purpose like we observed where Kelly was killed and track who was in the right or wrong at crashes. Thepolice do not have a traffic division to enforce the road and people have gotten ridiculous in pushing the reds. I think the amendment takes care of your concerns. Through community effort, we were able to defeat such an effort at installingtraffic cameras in Bozeman several years ago. This is a bad idea. Traffic cameras would create far more traffic problems thanthey would solve. A cameral cannot know who is the driver of the vehicle — in many cases the driver is not the owner of the vehicle - yet citations would beissued automatically to the owner of the license plate. At traffic intersections, as was discussed years ago, drivers will be incentivized to slam on the brakes at thefirst sign of a yellow light, which will cause far more accidents involving cars behind slamming into the one in front. We are all in favor or making streets and roadways safer for non-motorized users. This is not the way. On Feb 10, 2023, at 2:56 PM, Marilee Brown <saferbozeman@gmail.com> wrote: Hi Jeff! Hurrah for Billings (and Montana State Representatives KellyKortum, Ed Stafman and Denise Baum)! Thanks to their work, allowing traffic cameras is now going to be up before the legislaturestarting on Valentines day in Kelly Fulton’s name. Please have staff contact Danny below if you want them to help. This will take aconcerted effort. Others on this email list can help organize those who you know. We can do this if we all work together! It’s easiest to read the bill in PDF form. Follow the link below andclick on the “Introduced” PDF version. Anyone can give me a call or email if you want to help push this effort in an organized way. Maybe the School District or City wouldhave a bus we could all take to the most important meetings in Helena. And please let me know who to coordinate with in the City. Weshould have politicians, police, engineers etc. And maybe it would even be a great idea to get this kind of thing (along with otherlegislation) on the City public email lists. Thank you for helping to make this happen!
